We love keeping in touch with our MCC/JOC Graduates after they leave Simtech to hear how their assessments went and what airline they will be working for! Its so motivating to see how happy they are to get hired and when they mention that the MCC/JOC in Simtech and the Sim Prep Session were key to passing their assessments we’re always very proud of our hard working Training Department!
We thought one story from two of our MCC/JOC Graduates Anton Murray Hill and John Smith was definitely worth sharing! Their friendship spanning the length of their pilot training shows the connections pilots develop throughout their training, how they are motivated by each other and their instructors to get their dream jobs.
Here’s their story…
“Myself and John first crossed paths in February 2015 when we started our ATPL Theory in National Flight Centre (NFC), Weston Airport, Ireland. We both pushed each other the whole way through, both passing every exam at the first attempt and we even finished with the same overall average (although John says he was working full-time and raising his son which made it harder!).
After finishing the ATPL’s in June 2016 we decided to train together, the next stage of our careers took us both to Lodz in Poland, where we trained from the beginning of October until just before Christmas of 2016. Having completed our CPL/MEP/MEIR our next step was the MCC/JOC in Simtech.
We started in January 2017 and from Day 1, greeted by the lovely Linda Logan, we loved the place. Our friendship allowed us to flourish during our MCC/JOC course and we both agreed that it was the most enjoyable part of our flight training. Putting a Dublin and Kildare man in a cockpit together could have been a potential disaster but it made us better friends and better pilots too! We made many friends in Simtech and have gained valuable experience from the instructors, several of whom we are still in contact with today. Pat Harris and Mick Mellett are always happy to pick up the phone.
Our 10 short days in Simtech gave us the tools needed to become airline pilots, which we now both are. Our journey has taken us to the right hand seat of a Boeing 737-800 with Ryanair, and of course, we were even on the same Type Rating course and living together for our 3 months on East Midlands. John is currently Line Training in Cork and I have just finished 2 months in London Stansted and will be finishing my training in Dublin this January.”
