Junior Flight Simulator Engineer

We are now seeking to recruit a Junior Flight Simulator Engineer to join our engineering department.

The primary role of the Junior Flight Simulator Engineer is to maintain, support and develop the FSTD’s and peripheral training equipment operated by Simtech Aviation, ensuring FSTDs meet and comply with all EASA and Competent Authority regulations as appropriate.

This role demands an understanding of multiple disciplines including Electronic, Hydraulic, Electrical, pneumatic systems, Networking, Computer systems, Visual image generator, Optics, Motion systems, PLC’s and control loading systems.

The Junior Flight Simulator Engineer is responsible for day-to-day FSTD operations, testing, repair, calibration, of simulator systems, interfacing with the simulator manufacturer and bespoke project work when requested.

Principal accountabilities

  • Fire Safety.
  • Fire Marshall duties.
  • Evacuation.
  • General Health and Safety.
  • Responsibility for ensuring one’s own personal health and safety.
  • Perform power up, orderly initialisation, operation, and shutdown of Flight Training Devices.
  • Conduct pre-operational readiness checks before scheduled training.
  • Conduct post-operational checks at the completion of the training.
  • Complete both preventive and corrective maintenance on all training device systems and subsystems.
  • Troubleshoot, isolate and repair or replace electrical systems pertaining to Flight Training Devices.
  • Troubleshoot, isolate and repair or replace hydraulic systems pertaining to Flight Training Devices.
  • Bench check, reinstall and operate parts/instruments, ensuring all indications and functions are in accordance with applicable technical specifications.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot associated electronic devices and classroom equipment.
  • Maintain documentation pertaining to Flight Training Devices.
  • Participate in Safety Management System (SMS) activities.
  • Accurately maintain component and parts levels in storeroom and associated database under supervision of senior engineers.
  • Setting up equipment and training room facilities as required.
  • Meeting with customers, flight crew and instructors and dealing with issues.
  • Participation in rectification and reporting of issues arising from Logbook, ELog, daily diary and management requests.
  • Reporting on snag rectification, snag carry over, deferred defects, Kestrel house issues and entering such details in ELog, Logbook and daily diary.
  • Participation in training and development courses as required.
  • Participation in Quality System.
  • Reporting power outages, security issues and health and safety issues.
  • Perform ad-hoc duties as required.

 

Education, Experience & Certification Requirements:

  • Qualified Electrical/Avionics technician or qualified simulator engineer with 2 years’ experience in flight simulator maintenance role and or equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field.
  • Must be eligible to live and work in the European union.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to use various test equipment such as: digital multi-meters and oscilloscopes.
  • CAE simulator experience would be an advantage.
  • Good Understanding of electrical and mechanical principles.
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills required.
  • Be self-motivated and possess the ability to work as part of a cross functional team.
  • Willingness to embrace change and positive in outlook.

 

Knowledge/Interests:

  • General knowledge of: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, MS Access.
  • General interest in aviation.
  • Shift work – 3 shift pattern.

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: €40,000.00-€48,000.00 per year
